Relaxation

Hello Everyone!

I am looking forward to reading everyone’s blogs and getting to know everyone over the next several weeks. I listened to the journey on relaxation exercise. I have a very hard time relaxing. I am taking 18 credit hours, I have 2 small children, I am hosting Thanksgiving dinner at my house this year and I have several other things that shall go unnamed on my plate. I listened but was unable to relax. I will relax when the holidays are over I finish my degree. I have never been the type to not worry. I like to have the weight of the world on my shoulders. It is my motivation to keep going and do better.

  1. Jillian, I can imagine that finding time to relax is a challenge. Take care of yourself so you can take care of your family.

    Happy Thanksgiving,

  2. Jill,
I understand you being unable to relax. Some people just function better under chaos. It is amazing what we can make time for when we have to. For most the last thing we make time for is ourselves and our health suffers for it. I am a massage therapist so I am nurturing and preaching relaxation and the importance of taking care of your self all day long. Do you think that I listen to my own advice? Not usually. Although recently I have vowed to start paying attention to my health and taking care of myself. If I do not take the time for me how can I help my clients and take care of my family? This is a hard concept for most but an important one to learn. This exercise was pretty cool so I hope you get a chance to fully experience it. Good luck with everything.

  3. Hi Jill,
I feel your pain! I do not have two small children but one tween and one 15. I also work full time, am taking 12 credit hours, am trying to start a business and am a single mom. I get it! My words of advice to you are to take at least 4 minutes in the am before everyone gets up and 4 minutes at night right before you go to sleep to meditate/pray or reflect. This does help to ground you so that you can sort out your thoughts. Another great time is when you are driving and no one is in the car. Turn off the radio and embrace the silence. A little me tim does go a long way! Be well! Ann
